petCube campaign

For a petCube campaign, I wanted to do some silly in-studio shots of different types of dogs coming in and out of frame. This is a 30-second marketing campaign video with a VO narrating from a dog’s perspective. Having something playful and light behind a backdrop where you could see the dog interacting with the technology and dog treats.

I’d want at least three to five dogs that were other dog bread and one or two people that we would get a b-roll of them playing with their pet and using the app on their phone to show that treats are coming out of the pesticide. I’d have brightly light backgrounds such as blue, yellow, and red with dog bread such as Dalmatian and black labradoodle.

It’s so funny, but I was chatting with a friend about this blog post assignment and did a job about her beagle teddy being in it, and she took it quite seriously… so I might have sighed myself up for a dog shoot. I guess you could call that model scouting for the fake campaign 😅

bits of curiosity

After an informal this weekend, I stayed to study at a coffee shop. After a few hours, I explored and stumbled upon a folk fest. Wanting more interviews for my Doc (for another class), I pull out my camera and lav mics. I hadn’t planned on shooting anything, but suddenly, I’m getting a b-roll of people having fun at the pacific science center and interviewing strangers struggling to find a quiet spot. I was in full-on problem-solving/ pivot mode. It was so natural and intuitive to document.

In those moments, I feel completely myself, doing my own thing. Trying to create connections while attempting to make art does it for me. Or it’s connecting with people and creating something bigger than myself. Or an excuse to chat with someone and see how they are to what my initial perception of them was.
And when I say inspire, sometimes it surprises me how friendly people are. Even if someone doesn’t want to be filmed, people are polite and give me a “hope your project works out.” Something about that is validating that theirs slightly supportive strangers out their

Anyways, When im out of the box and with no expectations, and creating from a place of curiosity, I’m in flow and make my best work. I think my trouble is when I get stuck, finding effective ways to chill me out and focus on the curiosity of why I want to fill my life with this stuff in the first place.

Cameron travel photographer

This past year I’ve been going on hikes all over the PNW and have noticed I gravitate toward nature’s symmetry. I read this article about just that and have been quite fascinated. “It would make an awful lot of sense if nature could reuse the program to produce a petal rather than have a different program for every one of the 100 petals around the sunflower,” Dr. Johnston said.

Article: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/24/science/symmetry-biology-evolution.html#:~:text=Symmetry%20runs%20rampant%20in%20nature,things%20like%20proteins%20and%20RNA.

I went to the tulip fields at Roozeb Gaarde this weekend, and although these photos have been placed for picture-perfect, I can’t help but love how each bud has a grove of petals that fit together seamlessly. The pattern and texture of each blossom with the bright pop of colors manufactured together to look straight out of an Alison wonderland cartoon.

I also went to the UW cherry blossoms; using a wide-angle lens, I could capture all the spiral shapes of the tree branches. I also got a lens flair that I like in my image.

Kraken hockey spring quarter #1

I took inspiration from the beautiful muli-colored sunsets that the desert of palm spring produces. Whenever I see friends going, it seems it’s always sunset hour. They’re still up till sunrise at the festival. It’s a sunset till-sunrise type of event. That was the theme for my jersey. Since it’s the firebirds, why not make it about the fiery sky?

I chose to have purple stitching on the gradient down the jersey’s sides and on the circular back things. I also used the Graidenet orange and pink as counter colors that I think to flow well together. And leave white to add some simplicity. To be frank, I just wanted to make a design that I think I would wear and wouldn’t mind wearing; sports gear can be cute too.

The promotion would be about dust till dawn or sunset till sunrise, the Firebird is still flying high in the sky, and we would be celebrating the music festival season and music by repping the evenings threw the Kraken minor league palm springs teams jerseys.

Almost celebrating

This will help promote the festival because it sparks the attention of young people like me; part of going to a music festival is the outfit you are repping and what gradients are in right now. People pay attention to their bit of color or something different.

I don’t necessarily think its a good idea, but it isn’t the worst one your reading (id hope)

Christiana Wu blog #9 Q2

Who are you?
What is it that you want to do?
Why?
Where do you want to go?
What would you want to say?

These are all excellent questions that change daily at this stage in my life.

My name is Brooklyn Schugar, and I am a hardworking, pivoting, energetic person who constantly pushes myself outside my comfort zone and embraces change.

I want to create/make space for storytelling through the mundanity and simplicity of life. I want to uplift and create collaborative spaces where people believe in each other. Currently, advertising sounds exciting, and I’d love to make colorful, stylized, eye-catching Commercials/social media contact. Where? NYC would be a good fit for me because there will be other people on the ground hustling and having artistic visions similar to mine. As well as, there is more work there than in Seattle for me, and I’m not too fond of traffic, so right now, LA seems gross. On another note, I am open to many possibilities of where (besides LA full, time lol). My family encourages me to make content for brands & music artists in other countries, travel worldwide, and document my experiences. That would also be a great life experience for me, given I don’t have any strings attached anywhere.

What would I want to say?

The feeling I get when I work on a creative project Im passionate about can only be described as pure joy during the flow state. Getting to empower other people// products and make them look shiny & new, or at least that’s the way I see them, makes other people light up for me. I would want to give people that feeling…I don’t know. I grew up with a lot of learning disabilities & anxiety about the future, but I am becoming someone who does things even when I am scared shitless. And the experiences I’ve been able to have reflected that. So encouraging other people to do that same feels right.

Brook Montgomery CUT

I’ve been watching Cut videos for a hot minute. My favorite videos are ones where they bring a group of people with different options on the same topic, ask questions, and everyone arranges themselves, ranging from strongly agree & strongly disagree on issues like abortion rights or Religious beliefs. Having people from all ends of their opinions puts them in sections ranging from strongly disagree. I also like the format of asking 100 to 50 people the same question and getting reaction shots in a faster-paced edit; here are some questions that would be fun. These would be more inspirational/sentimental. (Ideally, ask 1-3 questions per video)

Is it better to have a highly creative job that pays little or a better-paying job with little creativity?

What is your personal life has influenced you to choose your career?

What’s your ideal job, and how would you feel doing it?

  • What makes you perfect for the position?

When do you feel most inspired? What habits do you have during those times?

Do you consider yourself friends with your network?

What does success look like for you?

When was the last time you screwed up a creative project & how did you react?

What is the last trait/ habit you learned about yourself?

What is the last thing you learned?

What will you miss in the future from this time in your life?

If you could describe this stage of your life in one word, what would it be?

metaerve

Some of the movements of the maneuvers could have been more intuitive and felt forced. I don’t know how to describe it, but my hands should have moved seamlessly. For example, during the AI module, we got to play with the octo, which felt much more realistic; I wonder if that’s because it’s your whole surroundings or the movement & technology are more advanced.

I’m conflicted with a genuine interest in it. On the one hand, this is where technology is headed, and it’s better to learn about it sooner// early adapter. On the other hand, people in the 40s didn’t believe in the color film but look where we are now. And this isn’t different. But I think it is going to make people feel highly secluded and depressed in sort. It will
Eliminate raw random connection, which is one of the joys of life for me. Essentially geared toward younger generations, this will create a lake of connection in many ways and create connections in others. But in my opinion, I don’t think it’s worth it with the current information.

I see it more as entertainment than as advertising because it’s interactive. But we could interact with an advertisement… that’s cool. It’s hard to envision, but similar to the taco bell wedding, It’s could be a way to get your name out there. I wonder if it will be in an app or if they will create almost new phones (eventually) that everyone would have. It is hard to imagine, but realistically it will be a big part of the next generation’s reality. I’m a gen z, and I’ve been told I prosses information perplexingly differently than the generations before me, and that’s purely due to growing up with the internet & social media being so relevant to social dynamics.

#6 – Adam Knight

1 – Deliver Quality Work
2 – Create and Foster Trust (with the client)
3 – Add Value to the Production/Company/Idea

This client liked my social media work and wanted me to make similar content. I have a mix of both on-camera and iPhone videos, and she said she didn’t care how it was filmed. I had put expectations on myself and felt terrible for filming on my phone because I thought the client wanted the highest quality work. (I really wanted to practice creating crisper, high-quality work.) I learned later that this job wanted more quantity than crisper quality, which I knew from the beginning. I undershoot that I was adding value by increasing their social media presence and having higher engagement. That was the focus and the goal, but I was so anxious about the quality that I lost focus on how I was adding value to the client, which made it harder for me to foster a better relationship with the client at times. So much so, I’m surprised she still highers me because it would take me forever to email back. (I know, yikes)
I was nervous about everything, yet the people highering me were sweet as peaches and weren’t worried about the quality of the value I added.

I lost sight of both the quality of the work and the communication with the client. At the end of the day, I failed to be transparent about how much I could give to myself.

I learned that it is essential to write follow-up emails re-stating what you learned from the meeting and how you interpreted it. I also learned that being a freelancer means sometimes setting your deadlines; whenever you are given a project, try to work on it immediately. I also learned that if someone is hiring you, they believe you can do the job. They are not waiting for you to fail.

Blog assignment #5 – Brit Zerbo – hard & soft skills

TOP HARD SKILLS

1)Social Media Marketing – This has been intuitive, but preparation meets opportunity. Threw cultivate my own personal brand, I’ve learned a lot about the day and age & could confidently get a job in that rn.

2)project management – This goes a lot with thinking big picture, but with timing & finding the right people to work with that mess together, I can get A+’s.

3)Adobe Creative Suite – this one is not entirely done, but I know I can always count on my premier, photoshop, lightroom, audition, in-design, & after-effects skills.I want to expand my knowledge because all these programs are rabbit holes, but these are valuable skills that I’m proud to have.

TOP SOFT SKILLS

1)Communication: People love & hate this, but I am always 100% transparent and honest. And if something is wrong, I will be the elephant in the room to try and understand the problem. Communication & empathy go together because, with that open communication, there is no judgment. So I have neutral & here to listen and want to be on the same page. This helps me learn more defiantly and makes me more personable.

2)Creativity// execution of vision // big picture thinking – When working on my projects, I know how to create a vision board and execute it to how my original image intended it to be.

3) Openness to learn – I am still determining if this is the stage of life I am currently in or if this is who I am as a person. I’m genuinely a curious person who is open to learning & thinks they can learn something new from everybody. I love asking questions, building connections with people & places, and seeing others’ perspectives. This helps me be a leader because I don’t have an ego, thinking I know it all, but instead am learning from people as their learning from me.

Hard skills to improve

1)Budgeting – I need to work on deciding & providing the money aspect. I consider myself cheap at times, which is a pro & con. When managing a team, I have to consider everybody’s needs and what the client can afford. Just typing this, I’m overwhelmed… My concept/ gag of money itself could be clearer.

2) Storyboarding – I’ve been working on doing way more pre-pro this semester and am trying to get my vision as straightforward as possible on paper so that my post-pro runs smoother. I realize this has become a trend & which is why my post-pro can be sluggish.

SOFT SKILLS TO IMPROVE

  • 1)Time Management// time blocking – the ability to sit down and focus on one thing at a time can be difficult for everybody, but I notice it is the main reason I flounder.
  • 2)Organizational: Since childhood, I’ve tended to have a home for only some of my most essential items. Sometimes things are organized in my head but not necessarily in the real world outside of myself. This leads me not to know where essential tools are and makes my life (in small ways) harder than it has to be. Increasing my organization will improve my time management skills & those puzzle pieces will help me be more successful in my daily life & work.

Jacob Christenson -networking video

link to the video on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/796176688

I messed up a few times, but I had already filmed it one too many. Times. Ik I talked too much about social media and not enough about creative direction. If you have time, feedback would be greatly appreciated! : )
