Here is my “z”
My dream place/country to work would be: Japan
Specific location: Tokyo, or adjacent
Why do I want to live/work here? In many ways I feel a bit limited in my design practice only ever learning mostly Western styles of design which rely heavily on Swedish influence nowadays. I want to learn as much that will challenge my mindset as I can, and I think that trying an Eastern approach might do me well.
AVG Cost of Living: Single person, standard amenities – ~$1004.50 USD/mo (142,352.80 Yen) // Cheaper than Seattle (technically)
Quality of Life Rating: Very High
AVG Income for Graphic Designer: about $40,000/yr USD, which shouldn’t be bad compared to the cost of living

AR Module – Assignment #2: AERO
This week in our AR/VR Module, we were to design a greeting card for an ambiguous event/occasion. I am very fond of memes and prefer the style of “SomeEcards” being that they are greeting cards with silly little statements.
For interactive elements, the heart symbol is the starter, and ffrom there, I used a ‘touch’ trigger, which hides the symbol, and causes the phrase “pssst” appear with an arrow, leading you to get closer to it. Upon coming within 50cm of the phrase, it swithes out for the actual card.
Guest Speaker Blog Assignment #1
This week, we were tasked with the objective to build out a poster for a given band to accompany their appearances at the Capitol Hill Block party this year. The band I was assigned was Wavedash, an EDM group out of Austin, Texas. I didn’t know much about them before this assignment, so I tried to build something that I thought matched the ideas I was getting just by looking them up.
The biggest recurring idea I saw was that this group uses a log of ‘grungy’ aesthetics while still looking clean cut. I sought to emulate this through several methods.
Here is my ACTUAL final project:
