Fall 2023 Assignment #7

The Fujifilm GFX100 II is my dream piece of technology. Here are some key reasons why I am obsessed and watch too many YouTube reviews about it.

The GFX100 II delivers exceptional detail with its 102-megapixel sensor, dynamic range, and color reproduction. The quality is unreal, capturing stunning images with incredible clarity, lifelike colors, and flexibility to print large-format photos and crop images without sacrificing quality. Despite its medium format capabilities, the GFX100 II has a compact design, perfect for capturing landscapes, portraits, fashion, and commercial work. The built-in five-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS) system is a game-changer. It compensates for camera shake, so you can shoot handheld with slower shutter speeds or in low-light settings. The GFX100 II’s phase-detection autofocus system covers close to 100% of the frame, ensuring precise subject tracking and quick, accurate focusing. This feature would be super useful when photographing concerts; there would be no more blurry shots! You can also record 4K/30p videos and utilize the F-Log recording. With its exceptional image quality, versatility, image stabilization, advanced autofocus, and video capabilities, the Fujifilm GFX100 II lets you capture stunning images with incredible detail. The GFX100 II would elevate my work and help me get better results in my future career, and I can’t wait for the day when I can afford it.

Fall 2023 Assignment #6

I have always loved art and creating things. As I grew up, I became obsessed with certain aspects of art that caught my attention. At one point, I was really into pen and ink art. I developed my own unique style, sold stickers on Etsy, and collaborated with RAW artists. My interest shifted to photography after years of neglecting my camera. It became my new passion, but something was different this time; I knew it was what I wanted to pursue seriously.

Attending this program has been an eye-opening experience. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I am thriving and genuinely love learning about photography and all its intricacies. Finding my style took work, but I have figured out what I want my photography to look like.  By combining my love for drawing, art, colors, and aesthetics, I have been able to incorporate these elements into my photos.

One of the ways my perspective has shifted in the past few months is realizing that there is so much more to lighting, video, and photography than I ever could have imagined. It has been a lot of new information, but I have been applying everything I’ve learned and embracing the challenge. This program has been beneficial in helping me focus on one skill and refine it, which has been a personal challenge for me due to my ADHD. I have had many creative endeavors and business ideas, but now I can immerse myself in photography and develop my skills.

What sets my vision apart is the combination of my diverse artistic interests and desire to create a bright and warm new perspective on vintage visuals by mixing the aesthetics of the 60s and 70s with a modern touch, bringing a unique look to my work. This fusion of different eras and styles allows me to create images that evoke a sense of nostalgia while also feeling fresh and contemporary.

Fall 2023 Assignment #4

I’ve been a huge fan of house music for a while now, and one of my go-to ways of finding new artists is watching Boiler Room videos on YouTube. It’s always been my dream to work in the music industry, even if it doesn’t involve photography. I’m incredibly passionate about it, so living in London and working for Boiler Room would be a major achievement and an honor for me. The cost of living in London can vary depending on neighborhood, lifestyle, and personal preferences. The average monthly cost for a single person, including rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, and entertainment, can range from £1,200 to £2,500.

Fall 2023 Assignment #1

Jean Dawson’s music embodies an electronic fusion of alternative rock, pop, hip-hop, and R&B. He constantly explores different styles and collaborates with unexpected artists. Since his music is a blend of various genres, I wanted my poster to reflect his ever-evolving style. I love how he always experiments with different sounds and collaborates with unexpected artists. While creating this poster, I listened to his music to emulate his unique and ever-changing style.

I drew inspiration from punk show flyers and wanted to incorporate a collage, handmade feel into my design. This project has also made me realize how enjoyable it is to create posters, and I hope to make more in the future.
