“Visual Media For Graphic Designers”

It has always been enjoyable for me to acquire new knowledge from others and to hear their perspectives on my projects and work. Visual media are essential to us designers because they are a set of visual and auditory techniques that support teaching, facilitating a more robust and faster understanding and interpretation of ideas and offering specific visual messages, and not only that, but they are also fundamental to the culture of our society; art as a creative activity has an effect that is both liberating and healing, as well as one that contributes to personal growth.

Let’s talk about one of my friends/classmates; Her name is Brooklyn, and she is a first-year student majoring in Visual Media. In this blog, I will talk about my experience working with her, as she is a vital person to me at school, and she is a member of the Visual Media group( as I mentioned before.)

Recently, she came into my classroom like she does every day to say hello, and after that, we began talking about her work and ours. I had a charming and enjoyable conversation with her because we learned a lot about how crucial Visual Media is to develop our visual environment in our work, and she tells us that it happens to them in the same way with our projects. This makes the conversation very pleasant for me, and it makes the conversation very interesting for me.

Following our conversation, Brooklyn tells me that she needs my assistance with one of her projects at school, and of course, I am more than happy to lend a hand. It was a photo section in which I supported her as a model, and she took photographs in various planes, playing with light (lighting) and utilizing leftovers. She performed a task for me that was both very interesting and entertaining at the same time. After she was finished, she took the time to show me how to place the camera concerning the lights to produce photographs of a higher visual and professional quality. This is how we engage with one another, and at the same time, I gained new information.

I believe that the classes in New Media that we graphic designers take on Fridays will be of assistance to us in further expanding our exposure and visual culture.

“Leadership at School”

1- Responsibility :

When you pay for your education, you:
Work extremely hard
-Feel a personal obligation to perform admirably
-Leadership among peers and role modeling
When you demonstrate class loyalty, you:
-Learn new subjects and complete homework.
-Engage in class and with your instructor Manage your school and home responsibilities
-Invest adequate time to do the task effectively.

2- Deliver Results :

Individual outcomes will vary, but supporting individuals should be the ultimate objective:
-Always give your all.
-Honor your commitments.
-Follow-up on projects.
-Team accountable and responsible.
-Success impacts both your personal and professional lives. Friends, family, and roommates, among others, require expected results from us. Daily rituals such as taking out the trash, cleaning your room or home, offering or preparing meals, and remembering/acknowledging someone’s birthday help us develop stronger relationships and achieve more achievements.

3- Frugality:

  • Start keeping track of your cash flow as a student.
  • As a student, you realize the significance of living frugally.
  • Deal with peer pressure that causes you to spend more money.
  • Do not get distracted by the trend of spending more money.
  • Start reading quality literature as a student.
  • Take measures to attain financial autonomy as a student.
  • Invest your money to improve your abilities-  Realize as a student that health is wealth.

I believe that the most difficult for me to fulfill is FRUGALITY. As a young person, I was used to partying and traveling almost all of the time, and now that I am only studying, I cannot afford those luxuries. I have to spend as little money as possible to be able to study these two years in the graphic design program.

“I said no, but…”

“I believe anything is achievable if you have the mindset, the will, and the drive to do it, and you put in the time.” As a four-year-old in Cuba, I began figure skating and enjoyed how difficulty and elegance combined to create such beautiful programs. No one anticipated, however, that fourteen years later, I would become a competitive athlete and represent my country twice at the Panamerican Games and in other significant international competitions. Even more unbelievable was the notion that figure skating could become one of the most important aspects of my life.

I was born in Havana, Cuba, where tropical climates and people enjoy dancing and wearing bright clothing. My parents have always encouraged me to pursue the arts. Since I was a child, I have been interested in all art-related activities, including drawing, pottery, classical dance, and many more. I once told my mother that I wanted to become a figure skater while we were passing by a rink.

Figure skating provided a supportive environment that made the other difficulties worthwhile, from its friendly bruise-counting competitions to its ethos of hard work and endurance. Knowing that every second I spent on the ice was a financial cost for my family, I valued every moment I spent on the ice. I had the opportunity to represent my country in numerous international contests, achieving outstanding performances and medals. At that point, I had to make one of the most challenging decisions of my life: whether to continue my sports career as a competitive athlete or enroll in a Graphic Design Program in college.

I resolved to continue my career as a professional athlete, but as the years passed, my artistic roller skating performance began to diminish. Injuries forced me to withdraw from competitions and immigrate to the United States of America to start a new life. To support myself, I began studying English and working in occupations I had never considered. My life had taken an unexpected turn, separating me from my family and requiring me to abandon my former hobbies for art and roller skating. Nevertheless, it is never too late to follow one’s aspirations. During the shutdown of the year 2020, I utilized my free time to build photo frames with the artwork. The number of paintings ordered by clients enabled me to launch a second business selling them on Etsy.com. My designs were more exciting and motivating to me. To further my artistic inclinations, I began researching Graphic Design.

“My spectrums in this program”

The moment I chose to enroll in this Graphic Design program, my heart began to beat a thousand times per minute. It was a difficult decision to make (I was quite terrified), but it was accompanied by a sense of excitement and a desire to give my all and express my creative abilities.
I believe it is too soon to decide what I will do after completing this program since I still have much to learn and experience in this new chapter of my life. Also, when I attended the open house for this program, I will never forget that someone said that you enter this career with an idea of what you want to work on in the future, but as time passes, those thoughts change, and you become interested in other totally different branches of the career; however, I have always had an idea of what I like in this world and in which I believe I could thoroughly enjoy the process. I have also detailed my aims, which may change slightly throughout the race.
To Get  Graphic designers to create visuals for use in print and online communication of thoughts or ideas. Those who aspire to work in this sector may benefit from setting goals that will help them gain experience and progress in their careers.
My short-term objectives are to acquire as many design abilities as possible and to begin educating myself about graphic design. Long-term, I hope to build a professional network, remain current on industry trends, enhance my interpersonal skills, and create my own portfolio so I can begin sharing my ideas as a graphic designer.
Since I was a child, book publishers have piqued my interest; from the color, font, and photographs that comprise the visual beauty of a book, I believe it would be my first choice.
After that, I enjoy designing logos and everything associated with the production of a graphic design project. (Designing fonts, selecting appropriate colors, etc.)
I have also spent very little time studying how to design a website from scratch; yet, it appears to be incredibly difficult, hard, and interesting; therefore I enjoy it every day.
Without further thought or care, I believe I am prepared to discover what my destiny has in store for me as soon as I complete this enlightening and fulfilling voyage.

“SCCA: my new journey “

Hello every one, here is an example of my first SCCA blog. I’ll explain this work, how to execute it, and the story behind it here.
I use three different work media and approaches in this blog: sketching, photography, and animation. The photo is vital to me because it was one of the photos in my portfolio that got me into this program. I also do the digital drawing on pictures, using bright colors that match my attitude. And I chose animation since it is a medium that has always piqued my interest. Adobe After Effects was used to animate and create, and the shot was captured with a SONY Alpha 6000 camera.
I wanted to reproduce my method from my initial days in the program in this project. In this scenario, I identify with the Space Needle, white, raw, and lonely in the center of a blue and empty horizon, which reflects how I felt in those early days. Filling me with color, which in this case is the knowledge that I am gaining in the program, gradually by little, hazy, colorful, and happily full of feelings and satisfaction because the beginning of this new trip in my life full of emotions has not been simple. I hope you enjoy it.
