For the second project, an app review, I chose to create my presention on the app Polycam. Polycam is an app that allows the user to create 3D models on their phone from pictures. The app has the user take photos while moving either the object or themselves in a circular motion. The user can then view these models in AR using the camera on their phone. I think the app is an extremely powerful tool considering how easy it is to use and the range of applications it has. I didn’t run into any problems while completing this assignment because the app makes everything needed to be done very straight forward. I also think the price for the app is very reasonable, being about $8 a month or $60 a year, although this price does make it less accessible to certain people. I was very surprised with how well the AR portion of the app works, being able to determine the size of the object scanned and relay that information back when viewing. Overall I think this app is great and has a lot of practical real world applications and I very much enjoyed my time using it.
