The app that I chose to review was the AR version of the mobile game “Stack.” When I first opened the app it took me to the original stack game, but there was an icon underneath that said “AR” so I clicked on it and it took me into the camera for AR mode. Once the AR was set up I was able to play the game on the surface in front of me. The UI/UX felt intuitive and seamless, it was very similar to other mobile game experiences which made it easy to navigate. My biggest issue with the UI/UX was this graphic that appears once you finish the game, I had no idea what it’s supposed to represent and it takes up half of the screen so I would assume it’s important. The game was fun but I lost interest very quickly since there is only one goal and action to take in the game. Overall I think that Stack AR was a successful version of the original app.

The concept I chose for this blog assignment was “Playing Frisbee with a cat at a park.”
I wanted the images of the cat playing frisbee to be very colorful and cute. I also wanted the scenery to be very lush and green and the cat to be very fluffy and orange with huge eyes. I made a very rough sketch that vaguely represented what I wanted these images to look like.
Drawing:
Image #1 prompt: “cute fluffy orange kitten playing frisbee in a lush green and sunny park”
Image #2 prompt: “fluffy orange cartoon kitten catching a frisbee in its mouth in a lush green park with other kittens playing”
Image #3 prompt: “fluffy orange anime kitten playing an ultimate frisbee tournament in the park with other kittens”
I had a lot of fun creating these images and was very happy with the results. I used Bing image creator and thought that it was a great free Ai tool. It took a little bit of time for the images to generate but aside from that, I have no complaints about the software because I did not pay for it.
After comparing the different models Cricut has to offer, I learned the Cricut maker 3 has the most diverse range of capabilities compared to other cricut models. It can handle a variety of materials such as wood, metal, textiles, and can print up to 12 feet wide. Because of its broad range of capabilities, the Cricut maker 3 is the most expensive of their models to choose from at $400 on average. Cricut does have sales pretty frequently so it’s possible to get your hands on it for less than average. The Cricut maker 3 is also the largest and heaviest of all the models which is one of the downsides to the device since it would not be practical in my apartment.

This is a hard question for me to answer because I already have trouble deciding on what I do that is distinctly my own. I do not consider myself a very unique person and think that my experience is probably similar to others. I would, however, like to believe I’m a very unique and individual person but I truly feel like everything I come up with is just elements of things that my subconscious has picked up on. The things that I would consider unique to me are the mixes of different media I enjoy like film, photography, fine arts, music, and graphic arts. (Although I would consider it unique to me I know there are probably a thousand other people that also enjoy these things and consider them unique.) I have a background in fine arts which is not distinctly my own, I’ve met a lot of students in the program who also have a background in fine arts. Going to college previously has greatly influenced my approach to being in this program. When I first went to college I wasn’t as focused on what I was studying since it was my first time living away from home and being in a city. I didn’t connect with faculty and fellow students as much as I do now and didn’t take all of my assignments and classes seriously. I am a very diligent person who is good at taking criticism and implementing change based on the critique, which is a very important skill in this field. I think my ability to follow through with these skills could be considered unique to some..

If I had the choice to work in any international country it would be Amsterdam, Netherlands. I chose Amsterdam because of the quality of living, safety and my previous experience studying Art History in Amsterdam. Although Amsterdam is not an inexpensive place to live, the estimated cost of living is 17% less expensive than Seattle. The average cost of rent for a cheap one bedroom apartment in the Netherlands is $1300 which is similar to Seattle. The Netherlands quality of life ranks high compared to other countries due to the cost of living, crime rates, healthcare, commute times, and environmental pollution.

For this assignment I was introduced to the artist Elohim. I started the project by going through her discography since I’ve never listened to her music before and I wanted to find a song that would inspire me. Once I found the song “Journey to the Center of Myself” I was able to decide on the text I would use from the songs lyrics. I also found that looking at pictures of the musician was very helpful to figure out a specific aesthetic and direction for the poster to go. Once I found an image of Elohim that I really liked, I began to design the poster around a two tone version of the photo that I edited in Illustrator. I added the disco ball because I thought the song had a beat and rhythm similar to 70s disco music. I decided to use the font “Alta California” which is free on Adobe. I picked this font because I liked how the texture was similar to the graphics I am using on the poster, especially the disco ball. Elohim makes moody yet very danceable songs so I wanted to incorporate this feeling in the poster.
