Paolo Tosolini

As a new graphic design student with a really narrow understanding about the emerging technology, Paolo Tosolini absolutely opened my eyes. In Friday’s class, He walked us though a bunch of new technologies that looked so futuristic and I probably didn’t know they existed. He presented multiple projects about 3D virtual tours, Merge Cube, VR / AR, and taught us how to create high-quality 3D models with Polycam, etc. It made me feel like the future is here. Throughout the presentation, the project that impressed me the most was augmented reality. Augmented reality can help travelers walk through virtual portals leading to new worlds by using mobile device. The biggest benefit of having the option to travel in AR is that it can expose people to the world in a profound way. I believe most of us love travelling, but we don’t have much opportunity to travel due to financial need, time, and especially in this pandemic time, so we must give up our plan. AR can somehow meet our need. It provides a partial experience just about anywhere on Earth.  I’ve planned to travel back to my country, but then Covid happened, travelling is limited, I had to postpone my plan.

Some of the most iconic and recognized landmarks and buildings around the world that we can explore for free from home. I found out that this website is so amazing, it allows us to go travel to so many places, and countries,  https://www.airpano.com/360photo/Statue-of-Liberty-New-York-USA/.  I feel like I can fly to the statue of liberty within a second or even view the small town where I lived. This website is so magical.

I would think if we could apply AR for hotel industry, that would be very cool too. Using AR, it is a good way to advertise your hotel and to engage guests. Create a 360 virtual room, where our guests can easily walk over and view each available rooms in details and prices.
