Special Project

I’ve heard of this personal special project from a few alumni before came to the program, and I know the special project is extremely important as a graphic design student because if you do this project well, you can quickly land the first job after graduate.

Before the program, I’ve gone through a really hard time of figuring what design field that I am interested in the most; I discovered myself by doing daily poster, and the answer is nowhere until I got into the program. After bouncing around from project to project in the first half quarter, I just feel like UI UX is maybe not for me, even though that’s the field that I want to purse the most before I came to the program because which is the high-paying job. Other than that, I found my-self have fully energy every Monday and Thursday when in Jill and Jason class. I love to make things with basic shape in illustrator, love to play with layout, color, doing packaging design, album cover or poster design; and maybe that’s something potentially relate to my special project next year.

Packaging design.
I realized the deeper diving into the rabbit hole of design, the way I look at the world is also different than before; I focus more on how the visual communicating for the brand. Sometimes I buy a drink because it has a dope packaging design, not because how tasty it’s. If nothing distracts my process, maybe it will take me fully one quarter to actually finish the packaging from the design to the physical product.

Motion Poster Design+ Magazine Layout.
I have been interested in poster design for a long time, that’s something I normally do to kill my spare time, and I can say my poster design is up to another level after I took After Effect class and AR class. That’s so interesting to incorporate motion in poster design. My poster mainly aims at the two areas that’s sneaker and music, but no constrain, I know even move to a different area, I can still make a good poster too. And the time limit is 1 weeks for each poster coming out. maybe I’ll do a series of motion sneakers poster/illustrations. I would love to work in a sneaker company so this might help me to land my first job. Here are some of my poster design:

Adobe Creative Suite Deep Dive
That’s interesting to see how alumni deep dive into the Adobe Software and create many cool effects with texts, and bunch of other cool stuffs. Our job will get a lot easier, if we control the software well so why not.
