Hard Skills & Soft Skills

My top three hard skills are:

  • Bilingual

Being bilingual allows me to have more job opportunities or live in more places although I am not able to write in my other language and my reading level is like a child. I unfortunately can’t really work on that right now but hopefully in the future outside of SCC.

  • Graphic Design

I have an eye for design and that is why I want to make it my career however, there is a LOT is still need to learn so that is what I will continue to do at SCC

  • Project Management

I have some leadership skills under my belt but I’m the type who steps in when needed. Many people in either program have much more life experience and usually take the lead for group projects before I do. So I’d like to continue to work on that as well at SCC.

My top three soft skills are:

  • Conflict Management

This is one skill that I know I’m very good at. I don’t like conflict at all but that doesn’t mean I’m afraid of it. I will say things how it is in a respectful manner of course because that is one way to control a sort of conflict. I could go on about conflict management and how to keep anything from getting fired up. So far at SCC I haven’t really had any conflicts come up but if they do I know Ill be able to handle it and not only at SCC.

  • Collaboration

Collaborating with other is something I believe I am good at. I think I’m a relatively easy person to work with and this one kind o goes with the other two soft skills listed. Over the next year and a half I will continue with my fellow classmates and learn as I go along. Just going with the flow.

  • Compromise

This again overlaps with my two other soft skills but compromise I’d say is also a strong suit of mine. Since I don’t like conflict and frequently collaborating with others compromise is something that is bound to come up. I am also a little bit of a people pleaser so if I ever do have to compromise I will always try and suggest something where both parties will be happy. Again this is something that will come up time and time again in the next 1.5 years which is always good practice for the real world.
