Spring Blog Assignment #8

I envisioned “Freedom to Express, Freedom to Explore, Freedom from Expectation” as three movies in a trilogy.

Movie 1: Liam’s Love Story (Express)

Liam, the eldest sibling, is a workaholic lawyer who has always prioritized his career over personal relationships. His mentor, their jazz-loving grandfather, shares vibrant tales of his own bohemian romance in the 1950s. These exaggerated flashbacks, filled with jazz clubs and beat poetry, inspire Liam to balance his professional ambitions with his burgeoning romance with Mia, a free-spirited artist. As Liam navigates the ups and downs of his relationship, he learns the importance of embracing both love and career, ultimately finding harmony and fulfillment.

Movie 2: Sophie’s Love Story (Explore)

Sophie, the middle child, is an adventurous schoolteacher who feels confined by her routine life. Her great-aunt, a former pilot and world traveler, becomes her mentor, recounting thrilling tales of love and adventure from the 1970s. These stories, filled with exotic locales and daring exploits, encourage Sophie to take risks in her own love life. When she meets Daniel, a shy bookstore owner, she learns to embrace spontaneity and uncertainty, finding that true love often requires stepping out of one’s comfort zone.

Movie 3: Nancy’s Love Story (Expectation)

My mom loves owls and the color purple so that was my starting point. I hope drawing over one of the pictures is okay.

Spring Blog Assignment 4

I got lucky with my group Between Eric and Kate, because we all had fairly different senses of humor. We where able to use this to our advantage by making the small little scene we created as funny as we could.

We went with a simple sitcom esc concept so we could milk all the comedy we could from the situation. And while I believe that our set sorta made it hard for us to really fully do what we wanted to. I still had a huge amount of fun with my team.

NOT DONE. WILL FINISH.

Spring Blog Assignment 3

https://quantumseattle.org/

Since I was just a kid, Quantum Martial Arts has been my second home. Tucked away on Denny Way in Seattle, it’s more than just a place to learn kicks and punches—it’s a sanctuary where people from all walks of life come together to grow, support each other, and become the best versions of themselves.

At Quantum, martial arts is about more than just physical training; it’s about nurturing the mind, body, and spirit. The instructors don’t just teach techniques; they instill values like discipline, respect, and perseverance. These lessons extend far beyond the dojo, shaping not only how we move but how we live our lives.

One of the things that sets Quantum apart is its unwavering commitment to inclusivity. They believe that everyone, regardless of their background or financial situation, deserves access to the transformative power of martial arts. Through scholarships and outreach programs, Quantum ensures that no one is left behind, creating a welcoming space where everyone feels valued and supported.

But what truly makes Quantum special is the sense of community it fosters. From the moment you walk through the door, you’re greeted with warmth and acceptance. Whether you’re a seasoned black belt or a complete beginner, you’re welcomed into the Quantum family with open arms. It’s a place where friendships are forged, where people lift each other up, and where everyone has a chance to shine.

As I reflect on my own journey with Quantum, I’m filled with gratitude for the impact it’s had on my life. It’s where I learned to face my fears, push past my limits, and believe in myself. But more than that, it’s where I found a community of like-minded individuals who inspire me every day.

That’s why, when it comes to choosing a non-profit to donate to, there’s no question in my mind: Quantum Martial Arts is where my heart lies. By supporting Quantum, I’m not just investing in a martial arts school; I’m investing in a community that’s dedicated to empowering and uplifting others. I’m investing in a brighter, more inclusive future for all.

So here’s to Quantum Martial Arts—the place where strength, courage, and compassion come together to change lives. Here’s to the dojo that’s more than just four walls and a mat—it’s a beacon of hope, a sanctuary of possibility, and a home away from home.

Spring Blog Assignment #1

I chose Uber, Gitlab Pajamas, A Fluent 2.

First thing I noticed is actually me having issues with Uber and having to login to see it. Ridiculous.

Gitlab is a repository for people that don’t fully know how to use git yet. It’s design reflects this because its mostly based around intuition and simplicity. This is something that companys like Adobe figured out early and I believe is a big reason they are so successful.

Uber has a very dark and slick look to it. Almost trying to conjure a bad ass persona. I mostly use Lift for this reason. That and pricing but still. Uber has a lot of really big buttons and letters to make the things stick out. My guess is that they designed this specifically so that drunk people could still use it.

I didn’t even know what Fluent 2 was until I started this. Now I understand its basically the basis Microsoft uses for its UI. Which includes lots of colorful icons. As of Windows 11 they have also opted to make everything rounded. Which too their credit does make it look more modern.

AR Panel Project

  • We decided to focus on several neighborhoods in seattle and do sort of a virtual walking tour. I chose the seattle central building itself.
  • I mostly used google slides to create my project. Our group used a custom old timey looking template that I think really made the whole thing feel complete

Aero AR Project

After class I played with the aero project for a bit and added a bunch of stuff. My favorite bit being the spinning sun.

I wish I did a more original idea but I did really enjoy how this came out.

AR Poster

I created a fairly simple poster of the red room from Twin Peaks. When hovered over it plays a sort of jump scare from a game called Alan Wake 2 which is heavily inspired by twin peaks.

For whatever reason text wont appear on top of this like I intended so its less of a poster and more of a picture.

I downloaded the video, attempted to convert it to a GIF but instead I edited it a bit in Davinci Resolve and exported as a GIF.
