For me personally, it’s hard to see an object as something that can be stylized and set in a space to look like it was worth taking a picture of. Product photography- as much as I admire it- is a style I have yet to fully understand, and I do think that shows in the photo.
I decided to shoot an old fragrance mist owned for a while; I wanted to create a very soft scene that replicated the feelings I got from smelling the fragrance- delicate, dreamy, and encasing. Then it was a matter of what I was actually able to do with my level of abilities I knew I had a satin scarf that was similar to the color of the bottle, so looking up inspirations of products placed on ruffled satin, I utilized the soft light we have in the studio. As far as overall composition, I saw some complex ones online where it was less head on and more intricate, however, I was limited by a prime 50mm lens (which is apparent through the distortion), and just my overall understanding of product photography in general is not that grand.
