In my previous course at the creative academy, there was an incident that confused me quite a bit because I misread the requirements for my project. It was on the second interactive project, and Erik was the one who taught me this class. Briefly about this class of mine, although it is actually quite new and quite difficult for me, but I really like this class even though I am not good at this subject, but I feel Erik is a very good, him cares about my students and always helps me whenever I have problems while working on projects.
it’s a two-person project and i chose the theme of a clothing store, the goal of the project is one person will use figma to create a mobile clothing store website, and one person will use HTML/CSS to create a landing page for the clothing store website. when I read the project goals and I misunderstood what was written in it, I thought I would design a computer version of the clothing store based on the design of my friend mobile session. I’ve been planning and looking at a lot of different clothing sites online, and it seems I’ve taken a day off to start coding. And when I found out what I needed to do was not a clothing store website but just a landing page, I was surprised by this. I had to change all my plans, edit them on figma and start over, because it took me so long at the time i made the wrong request so i feel like my project is not very good, but i really tried to fix them, and fortunately I finally made it and didn’t miss the deadline for this project. I was worried about it, but everything is fine.

In 2017, when I was still in Vietnam, I also started to know and understand the graphic design industry. I was a student of management at a university in Vietnam at the time, but most of my high school friends pursue graphic design a lot, some of my friends have also been considered successful in this field in Vietnam. In 2019, when I arrived in Seattle, the covid pandemic hit and it took me 2 years, during this time I thought a lot and also thanks to the support of my friends, I decided to follow pursue graphic design.
It can be said that the graphics industry is currently one of the hot industries and is pursued by many people. because it is an essential need of an increasingly developed society. In general, a business, no matter what field it operates in, needs graphic design, especially when the business is already tied to advertising. Besides that, the demand for this field is also quite high. Partly because the salary of this industry after graduation is quite high, the other part is because graphic design has a strong attraction to people who both love art and love modernity. Graphic design is supported by technology quite a lot, in addition to many important software in design, these are also other reasons why it is attractive to future designers.
I was a bit confused at first in this field, but when I tried to approach it, I gradually realized it was very suitable for me. I love designing posters, MV posters, music or movies,… I already have quite a few of my works and I used some of them to submit entries to our program. I realized that I learned a lot here, and I started to have a different interest in sticker design, a lot of new things came to me when I decided to study this major, it was very interesting and useful. In addition, I learned a lot of different skills, because I know that each job position in the design industry requires different skills such as Web design, AR / VR, Icon,…
One of the important things to know before entering the Graphic Design industry is what fields this industry has and which one you should choose.
1: Brand identity design: Designers are responsible for researching, building and developing the entire image of the business in front of customers from logos, business cards, packaging,…
2: Graphic design for advertising & marketing: Images or videos that attract the purchase of products and services appear in the media designed by designers in this field.
3: User Interface Graphic Design: Websites and Mobile Apps need to be optimized to be user-friendly and easy, this is the job of a graphic designer.
4: Motion graphic design: Cartoons are an integral part of world cinema. The graphic design and animation industry is on the rise, attracting the participation of the Designer community.
5: Artistic graphic design and illustration: This is said to be the design trend of the present and the near future. Illustration art allows businesses to convey ideas richer and more dynamic.
Businesses increasingly need graphic design products. In order to increase brand presence on many different channels, from packaging, social media advertising to the entire web / mobile app, businesses are focused on designing. More than that, global companies are looking to new markets to explore untapped opportunities, especially the Asian market. The application of Graphic Design extends to industries such as food and beverage, healthcare, agriculture, electronics, information technology, telecommunications, retail,…

For me, this is really a very hot and interesting industry, but it comes with a great challenge for those who want to pursue this major. It not only requires one’s own efforts, but it also requires the inherent passion and artistic ability of each person. So, I also tried very hard and worked hard to train myself in this path of developing design skills.

In all the work I’ve done, I’ve always been obsessed with the name “Customer Obsession”. It’s hard for us to please them. When I was in Vietnam, I was an employee at a coffee shop, A customer came to order with me a cup of milk coffee, but their request after that confused me a lot, they ordered a cup of milk coffee BUT NO MILK, and then i found out that they wanted to put the coffee in a separate cup and the milk in a separate cup. But that’s what customers need from us, we have to understand customers, Sometimes we just need to be a little subtle, meet the needs of our customers and serve them, then they will love it and they will come back.

Earn Trust:
For us to gain the trust of real customers is not difficult and also not easy to do, It is very easy for us to build trust with our customers, but even a small mistake we will accidentally lose it.
I once encountered such a case when I used to work at a delivery company. There is a couple who used to trust my company very often, they use our services very often, But one day, the courier mistakenly delivered their order to the house next door to them, and since then they never came to use our service again, even though we apologized and hoped to compensate them

Learn and Be Curious:
Every customer is like that, when bugs enter a restaurant or a company or anywhere, they are always curious to find out if there is something here that can serve and satisfy them. It’s really easy to make that happen for customers, depending on the nature of the work and the service, we can change everything for a new one, which is also a good way.

What I find the most difficult is Strive to be Earth’s Best Employer. why? you mean the best all over the world? Understanding and satisfying customers is a very difficult thing, but each customer has different preferences and factors, in addition, there are many good employers, but each employer has its own strengths and characteristics, they will find employers who meet their needs and are right for them. So, strive to be Earth’s Best Employer is impossible.

Right now, I still don’t have too much life experience, but I have a few stories that I also want to tell everyone about my life.
When I’m still in Viet Nam, I used to be a boy who was always self-conscious about his appearance, and because of that, I have very few friends. I always like to wear oversized clothes even when I wear a school uniform, I didn’t stand out at all, but until I went to college that things gradually changed. At that time, I tried to make friends with the people in my class, for a shy person like me this was really difficult. I’m lucky to have made a group of friends, but one thing I didn’t know from them is that my friends are underground rappers. When I found out, I was surprised, because someone like me can make friends with such people and I am very happy about it. They taught me a lot from changing myself, after only one year I changed completely and even participated in composing music with my friends, at that time my other classmates and my high school friends started contacting me more and my making friends also became a lot easier. I find that only good and talented people attract each other and easily make friends with anyone on them level. At that time, I tried to study and improve myself more, I learned some more musical instruments and gradually started to like graphic design, but my friends and I were pursuing management at a university in Vietnam, not design.
About half a year later, my family told me that we were going to the US to live with my grandparents, I was very sad, I had to leave my friends, give up what I had, what I did, to come to America and start over. By 2019, the covid pandemic started, also the time when I fell into a severe depression, I received my psychology degree while in Vietnam, so I know my current situation well. Until I called a friend of mine to tell her about my current situation, she gave me advice and motivation that “try to overcome it by setting future goals for yourself like what I used to do before, then I will find new friends, things that would be very good and very cool”. Since then, I decided to pursue design, and i know my English is still not good, my pronunciation is not standard I’m also quite self-conscious about it. But it’s okay, I’ll get through these things too, it’s important not to give up.

This is my new project. My group’s topic is pacific northwest birds, and and I chose Steller’s Jay for my project.

Hi guys, I’m Kiet Lam, I’m still a student in the graphic design program at the Seattle Central Colleges. I know many current students already have some companies to look up to and pursue after completing the course, you guys worked so hard to be able to follow your dreams and be able to follow those dream companies. But not for me, because I see strengths in different companies, I can develop myself anywhere. I really like the comfortable, and positive working environment, and projects that can bring me more exposure to work and other employees so that I can develop and work better.
I used to be an Amazon employee, I also used to think that after graduating I would interview to work for Amazon in a design position, but the workspace at Amazon is a bit stuffy, and there are a few issues that I don’t like, so I’ll rethink my decision.
In addition, I also have a friend who is currently working at Microsoft, he told me about his job and some of the benefits that employees receive from the company. I am quite interested in the things he told me, and I think I will also try my hand at this company in the future.
In short, I also need to try to learn and hone my skills so that I can more easily pursue my dreams.

This is an AR app about astronomy, It helps us to see the stars and constellations in the sky. In addition, this application also tells us all the information about the constellations or stars that we want. This is a very interesting app and I love it.

• I have a fondness for astronauts, so I designed this poster using adobe photoshop. Next, I cropped and made an iron color-changing video for my poster. Then I went to youtube and picked a suitable piece of music and put it in. I finally used Eyejack to finish it.

I have a love for animals in nature, so I chose this theme
I initially created mountains, then clouds and trees to create a natural landscape. Next I added some animals like horse, wolf, fox, and 3 rabbits. Next I set them to move to make the animals more lively.

In the beginning, I used the poster I had made earlier and changed the colors, I then stitched the pictures together to create the clip. Next, I went to youtube to choose sheet music for myself, and I used “Eyejack” to create this clip. I used this poster as the official image, next I saved my clip and the music I chose.
