Introspective

I’m a human who has been challenged in many ways but has found a way to rise from it. Right now, finding joy in this new chapter that I’m in. Consequently, I’m exploring and learning the nuance of “my second act”. I’m a human who is not taking for granted where she is, and where she has been. Moreover, I’m curious to continue discovering myself and the world of graphic design.

I want to continue to explore. I’m  amazed with the learning not only in the academic department but in the inner self learning and exploration. Create new friendships and new memories. Graphic design  and Seattle Central Creative academy has opened the doors for  many possibilities.

In the past two quarters, I have learned that I can turn it around and take a different path. It has surprised me with experiences such as learning about Ux and Ui, and storytelling aka presenting. With this particular experience, I have learned the power of our story. In the same manner has reinforced the passion I find for branding, packing, and poster making.

To put it in another way, with packing and branding we transmit a story that can provide connections. Likewise, Poster making provides connection and some instances can create hope and community. To the same extent, UX and UI can provide accessibility.

What would you want to say? As a power in our story, it can bring solace to our own soul and hope to the ones who are listening and are in similar circumstances. Pherphad sharing our story can start healing collectively. And taking an example from Christina Wu to encourage us to use our voice because it matters.

CUT

A similar concept as “cut” would be a “who do you rather work with?”   program where    Creative Academy would be asked to prefer to work within a project. Would it be a one-on-one interview where they can find out who they rather work with? , why why not. the question may include.  Have ever taken credit for some other student’s work? What kind of work etiquette is a no-go? or do you think they are talented? What do you think is the ideal partner for a project? And at the same time can be a space to be brutally honest about out work with the purpose of cultivating more honest feedback like a peer review but with no filters.

The purpose of this prompt is to find if they have thought about the conversation of the work environment and what is acceptable and what kind of work culture is outdated. I hope this opens a more honest conversation about it.

The prompt would be at one of the classroom or conference rooms to provide a more safe and more comfortable place to have an interview. It would be interesting to learn the different points of view in a work environment.

Metaverse

For this particular project, I choose “Fortnite” a metaverse game where “players collaborate to survive in an open world environment by battling other characters who are controlled either by the game itself or by other players” (Fornite.com) Overall the experience was adventurous and fun. From choosing a character, and the skins( or glider… whatever this cool kid calls it) to going thru the world and making friends along the way.

After evaluating this popular game, the part that works that work well was: the gameplay mechanics; such as building was engaging, and cross-platform play; forties can be Olay on different diverse these features make it easy to play together and in-game events such as concerts and cross over with other franchises creating a lot of engagement from the player.

On the other hand, the part that didn’t work well was: mechanics; which can be janky or very sensitive also this is reflected in the type of game, the Complicated progression system; making it confusing for new players (big shoutout to my son for the patience in walking me thru the process), and toxic community; although my 30 min experience was pleasant, this platform is known for toxic players and online harassment.

Although I did have a pleasant time playing the game and found myself excited about it, I’m unsure about whether or not you want to play Fortnite again because is a time-consuming game. That said, I can see myself playing again occasionally on game night with my family. As a matter of fact, this metaverse works as an entertainment tool, it is already utilized as is with a concert and event that users are already excited about. Which can potentially be an advertising tool to matting well know brands. I can see Nike, or Adidas, or soft drinks use it to marketing their brands.

In brief, while Fortnite has its flaws, it remains a popular and engaging game that has captured the attention of millions of players and has the potential for advertising.
