The Seattle area non-profit I chose for my donation is a little place called the “Bikery” located in the Central District.
The Bikery is a place for the community to bring their bikes in to be repaired with the help of a volunteer: get as much or as little help as you need with any bike issues. You can use any of their tools but they do as for a donation of 5 – 15 dollars per hour to use the space and repair your bike but no one will be turned away for not having the funds to donate.
I think a place like this is important because a safe bicycle can be a lifeline for so many, especially for those who can’t afford a car or even bike repairs. I think it’s important to keep people moving on two wheels and have a place for people to mingle and chat about everything bike. The Bikery has been around since 2005!
You can become a volunteer of the Bikery or a member or both
