Concept marketing design

Process

I was brainstorming while looking through my shoes closet, I connected my jewelry with my converses. I chose the converses because they were simple, plain shoes that many people have, so I thought if someone wanted to be more expressive, these shoes would be a good opportunity. I mostly have earrings in my jewelry box, but I think people could also use necklaces and other jewelry to add flair.

Blog assignment #2-7

Express your journey with four wooden pieces and two iron frames.

Here are the new shelves I got. I tried to express my journey on them. I split the spaces to 12 sections. I put some items I have memories of and that wall important to me. It shows my character, plants I like, music, and beautiful things that I love.

When I took this scene I tried to fit parallel lines between the shelves and wall’s line and I didn’t want to make negative space so I broke negative space using my coffee table with little boxes.

Blog assignment #2-6 Super bowl commercials

This is the first Super Bowl game I’ve ever seen in my life. It was great to be able to do my homework while watching the game.

At the beginning of the game, I couldn’t focus on the commercials because I was so focused on the game, but after the second quarter, I concentrated and watched all the commercials.

Here’s a list of companies with particularly memorable ads to me.

  • Alaska airline
  • e.l.f cosmetic
  • Apple music
  • plutoTV
  • Verizon
  • Pfizer
  • Kia

And I picked 2 commercials

Pfizer

The advertisement was made to look like the paintings were singing by using portraits and paintings of historical and scientific figures to the tune of Queen’s song ‘don’t stop me now’.

Pro

  • By using music familiar to the public as background music, it was easy to become immersed in the advertisement.
  • I think I was able to think about it one more time by listing the people who contributed to the development of science and medicine.

Con

  • As the climax, the work and role of the Pfizer expressed through video images, but the images of the patient being treated for the disease and being discharged from the hospital at the end do not seem to be smoothly connected.
  • Since there were some videos that did not fit the screen size, it would have been better if the videos that fit the screen size had been combined into one.

T-mobile

They sing while talking about their past experiences with Aquaman, who says the party was canceled because the internet wasn’t working, and introducing a new home internet device.

Pro

  • I liked the singing and dancing, it was a good break between the super bowl.
  • I heard that 5G has a connection method using water. So, I thought the casting of Aquaman was good, if it was intentional.

Con

  • I liked Aquaman, but I didn’t know who the other two actors were. I heard that they were famous in the past. It would be better to cast more relevant actors.
  • I thought the overall commercial didn’t have a strong impact and a connection to the product.

Blog assignment #2-5 personal project

What is the idea?

Take html/css online class on Udemy

Why do you feel it would be a good experience or addition to your portfolio?

When I started this program my first quarter, I took the interactive class. I learned basic html/css but it was not easy to me because I was also trying to learn English at the same time. So I spent a lot of time trying to understand and felt I didn’t want to learn more of that topic.
When I was feeling hard about the html/css, I shared my situation with my classmate who is my best friend in my class. He recommended the Udemy online class for understanding of basic skill that we have to know for the field. I didn’t start the online class after I heard that immediately. However, I realized I want to try to learn more about html/css.
I studied html/css using a Korean textbook during winter break, and I could understand the interactive class more than last quarter. I thought that if I take the course my friend recommended me, I can make a portfolio for UX/UI design.

What skills do you hope to gain?

I hope to be able to build a website and understand the basics of web design to be able to troubleshoot and make edits based on my design choices.

A copy of your brainstorm list

  1. Take html/css online class on Udemy
  2. Make a brand for preparing for my side job
  3. Organizing previous works that I made during 1st quarter
  4. Shadowing someone’s speech (practicing presenting in English)
  5. Choosing one show for my English (listening)
  6. Practice making a layout using indesign
  7. Planning an event and hosting it
  8. New homestaging
  9. Make a Reels video for my official instagram
  10. Make an Youtube video with a lot more effort

Blog assignment #2-4 Portfolio

I want to share a piece of my work that I made last quarter.

Here is my poster for The Flower Lady, a flower shop in Seattle.

Final project for Jill’s class in 1st quarter

The flower lady is a popular flower shop in the Eastlake neighborhood of Seattle and I’ve been working there as a florist since February 2023. I realized that the store had a lot of history as it had many regular customers over the course of 40 years, but during that time there was never a logo. I thought the shop could use one to emphasize its strong story and with a logo it could help in making new regular customers in the future. I started first sketching many things about the shop, getting inspiration from the interior/exterior of the store and the different flowers we sold. I showed my pictures to my classmates and we shared critiques with each other so I could develop my icons for the logo. I moved my choice to illustrator and I played around with different ways between logo and the shop name. Finally, I fixed my logo by adding colors.
After I made the logo, I thought about a promotion poster for Valentine’s Day. When I think about most popular day to shop for flowers, I could tell that day is Mother’s Day. Many customers booked their order in advance of this day, so I wanted to make a poster for the Valentine’s Day because I saw many customers got flower bouquets last minute. I thought that if I made a fun and interesting poster with the logo, this could lead to more reservations. I really enjoyed this particular project because it tied together my two passions: floral design and graphic design. It was also related to the daily work that I was doing outside of school, and I got a chance to work with “clients”, although they were my coworkers and manager. I hope to be able to create work for clients and to help build their branding through logo design and understanding their story.

New media AR #4 AR Adobe Aero

New Year in Korean

Seollal, along with Chuseok, is a representative Korean holiday and falls on January 1st of the lunar calendar.
It is also called Seol.

The date of Lunar New Year changes every year, and in 2024, Lunar New Year will fall on February 10th. I decided on an Aero theme, thinking of the day I celebrated in Korea.

I used Procreate to draw elements reminiscent of Lunar New Year images.

I saved each layer as a png file.

When I ate dinner, I was thinking of the dish is good for my project as an animation.

So I decided to make a gif image of this food.

Korea has a culture where the whole family gathers and eats rice cake soup during Lunar New Year.
And it means that if you eat rice cake soup, you will gain a year older. This is part of a Korean culture where age changes on January 1st.

I drew a bowl full of rice cake soup.

And I made the animation of the spoon moving.

I used the files I created and the images in the Aero program to determine the location of each image.

I made 2 interactive elements

When I created my Aero project, the interactivity didn’t work well, so I built up triggers by looking at the file I created in class with my professor.

Finally, I got this video.

New media AR #3 AR Panels

My team is Jordan, Patrick and me.

I thought it would be good to create panels with information about the library. And I shared my idea with the team.

We decided on the Seattle Public Library as the subject of our panel project

We decided to choose a library in the neighborhood where we each live and make the panels.
I chose the kenmore Library because I visit it often.

The theme was decided,
I created panels about the Kenmore Library.

The history of libraries,
It shows hours and information about upcoming events.

And I came up with the Canmore seaplane as an idea for the animation.

I wanted to create animation in a new way, rather than the method I made in my previous assignment. I drew a seaplane with a spinning fan using my iPad and the Procreate program. I didn’t know how to use the program, but Jordan taught me how I can use the Procreate program easily.

(The panels were saved as a PNG
and the animation as a GIF.)

And I used the files I created to determine the position and direction of the panel in EyeJack.

Blog assignment #2-3 Board Game

Camel up

This game is easy to learn but so much fun .

Game information
Recommended age is 8 years or older
Recommended number of people: 3 to 8 people
the time required is expected to be 30 minutes.

In Camel Up, up to eight players bet on five racing camels, trying to suss out which ones will place first and second in a quick race around a pyramid.

First, there are up to eight characters in the game, and each person participating in the game chooses their own character.

Each player may play one of four actions per turn.

  1. Roll the dice to determine the number of camels to move.

2. place the cards given to each individual on the rail to interfere.

3. You can bet on which camel will arrive first in each turn.

4. You can bet on which camel will winning camel or losing camel.

This is a game where the person with the most money by adding up the coins earned through each turn wins.

It was the first time that most people who participated in the game had tried it, but they understood it right away and enjoyed the game.

it is a game where you bet based on guesswork without deep understanding, it is easy to access and enjoy, making it a good game to hang out with regardless of your closeness in a space where many people gather. However, in my opinion, it would be good to set a higher standard than the standard age of 8 years or older.

A friend who played the game with me contacted me on the way home saying that she had ordered this game.

It’s a simple but really fun game, so I recommend it to everyone.

Blog assignment #2-2 Swiss Army knife

I pay for the programs every month but I don’t think I seem to use well.
  • I have a mini camcorder that I bought to record my life, but I am not using it very well, so I think I need to find and learn a way to use it well in terms of design.

Tools that you do not have that you need to learn:

And I need to get the watch to keep track my time. I also need to get AirPod Pros for noise canceling so I can focus on my work, uninterrupted.

Blog assignment #2-1 AI Image

Rave at a dentist office

  1. I want to create an image where the mirror ball is spinning, there are neon signs, and the doctor and patient are enjoying a rave atmosphere.

  2. Draw a sketch of what you would like the final image to look like.

3. I choose the CANVA for making Ai image

4. Added my prompts to generate image #1

I needed to understand the program, so I obtained images through a simple keyword search, but I was not satisfied.

5. Image #1

6. Refine and tweak my prompt for Version #2

7. Version #2

8. Last chance to refine and tweak my prompt for #3

9. Finally I got these images

I tried to find something that looked close to my prompt. Then I got the image and I added a title.

This is my first time using an AI image program.
It was fun because I got many kinds of images,
but I think it is hard to get exactly what I want.
I thought that the more specific the description, the more accurate the results would be, but when I saw the results, I felt like the image was created with only partial data. Also, as Korean is my native language, I have limitations in expressing my thoughts in English, so it took several attempts to get the result according to the image I had in my head.
