Blog Assignment #2 Polycam
CAUGHT! Wild Care Bear in the Neighborhood!!
New Media Blog Assignment #1
Sofi Tukker is a duo that combines energetic qualities into their music such as House, EDM, and Pop. Listening to these artists you might be compelled to get up and dance. You may have heard their music in Apple commercials specifically their song “Best Freind” for the promotion of the iPhone 8 ‘red’.
Initially, I was nervous to experiment with the color scheme or aesthetics of the duo because I was not familiar with their music. Although it was a challenge, I initiated the process of creating the poster by trying to understand their artistry.
After interacting with Sofi Tukker’s music I was able to depict the essence behind the House; EDM genre of music. I was deeply inspired by their song “Purple Hat” to create this poster visually as it incorporates what Sofi Tukker embodies as artist’s aesthetically. Supporters of the artists are known for wearing bright colorful and cheetah-printed clothing which I wanted to market in the poster.
Here’s a link to their song “Purple Hat”
Sofi Tukker’s artistry when it comes to their music and visual appearance is very colorful and bright. The process of curating the poster for them stems from combining the scheme of neon colors which pair well with the dance, House, and Pop music visual aesthetics. The cheetah prints are incorporated in the empty-spaced portions in order to appeal for the love of cheetah print that Sofi Tukker’s audiences appreciate so much.
Overall, the concept of this poster was to embody their calling as artists. This was finalized through my attempt to understand who they were as musicians and what kind of music they conveyed to their audience. I was happy to step out of my comfort zone as it helped me exhibit new ways of working with certain color schemes and visual approaches to showcase an ambiance.
